About the Author
August H. Nimtz is Professor of Political Science and African American and African Studies and Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Minnesota, USA. He is the author of Marx and Engels: Their Contribution to the Democratic Breakthrough (2000), Marx, Tocqueville, and Race in America: The 'Absolute Democracy' or 'Defiled Republic' (2003), and a number of related articles in edited volumes and journals.

Invaluable, unique, and outstanding

These two books are invaluable; as important as the Cuban Revolution is, fact is revolutions in the U.S. and other metropolitan/imperialist centers will look much more like the Russian one.
Nimtz uniquely pulls together Lenin's approach to electoral politics under capitalism and how to use them to advance both workers' consciousness and a revolutionary party.
Essential reading for anyone serious about overturning the hell capitalist rule is taking humanity into.
Nimtz –a Black professor who grew up working class in New Orleans and went on to deep involvement in civil rights and international struggles for justice (and close involvement with the Cuban Revolution)– has written a book that simultaneously meets the most stringent scholarly standards and is entirely understandable by working people.
